Hope Walks In

Jul 12, 2026

We all know what it feels like to walk a road that does not make sense. Life can take turns we did not expect, leave us carrying disappointment we did not ask for, and make us wonder where God is in the middle of it all.

Greg Mathena, Legacy’s Lay Pastor, continues the series, Pull Up a Chair, with a message from Luke 24:13–35 called “Hope Walks In.”

On the road to Emmaus, two disciples are walking away from Jerusalem with heavy hearts and shattered hopes. They had the facts, but they could not yet see the story clearly. Then Jesus came near. They did not recognize him at first, but as he walked with them and opened the Scriptures, their understanding began to change. The road that felt like disappointment became the place where hope walked in.

Jesus still meets us on the ordinary roads of life. He comes near when we are confused, reveals himself through his Word, and changes our hearts as we walk with him. What looks like a road leading nowhere may become the very place where Jesus reshapes us and prepares us to strengthen someone else’s faith.
